The Challenge

Enabling secure, workplace-based electric mobility

SAP, a global leader in enterprise software, continues to advance its sustainability agenda across its global operations. In India—where electric mobility is gaining momentum—the company identified a critical infrastructure gap: the absence of scalable, workplace-based EV charging.

SAP’s goal was to equip its Bangalore campus—one of its largest globally—with a future-ready EV charging ecosystem. But the ambition went beyond simply offering convenience to employees. The vision was to embed the physical and digital foundations of e-mobility into the fabric of SAP’s green campus strategy _ The challenge: deliver an infrastructure that was secure, scalable, and seamlessly integrated with SAP’s internal IT and compliance systems—all while ensuring the user experience was intuitive enough to drive real behavioral change._

To achieve this, SAP required a partner capable of delivering:
• High-volume charging capacity across both two- and four-wheeler segments
Enterprise-grade data privacy and internal server hosting
A user interface and workflow simple enough to support widespread adoption

The Solution

Secure EV infrastructure tailored to enterprise standards

To address these needs, SAP partnered with Bolt.Earth to implement a fully customized solution—designed to meet both physical and digital requirements across the Bangalore campus.

Hardware deployment across the campus
• SAP deployed a total of 76 EV chargers
56 4-Wheeler fast chargers for four-wheelers
20 Smart Sockets(3.3kW) chargers for two-wheelers

The chargers were installed strategically across parking zones to ensure easy access and optimal usage, reflecting the varied commuting patterns of the campus workforce.

Secure data architecture with internal server hosting
To meet SAP’s stringent data privacy standards, Bolt.Earth’s solution was customized so that all charger data would be hosted entirely on SAP’s internal servers. SAP retained full control over software integration and data management—ensuring complete independence from third-party cloud environments.

This model preserved data sovereignty while delivering real-time functionality to campus administrators.

Smart feature enablement and employee training
In addition to core charging functionality, the system included smart LED indicators and over-the-air (OTA) update support to ensure maintainability and performance. SAP employees were trained to manage hardware use, troubleshoot issues, and operate system features confidently—enhancing day-to-day usability.

The Impact

A future-ready EV infrastructure delivering secure, seamless employee access

SAP’s deployment has created a secure, employee-centric charging experience—aligned with the company’s broader sustainability and IT governance standards.

Operational excellence at scale
With 76 chargers live and in use, SAP now offers on-site EV charging as a seamless part of its workplace experience—supporting daily use by employees and visitors.

End-to-end data control
All charger-related data remains within SAP’s internal servers—ensuring full privacy and eliminating risks associated with third-party platforms.

Sustainability impact
By integrating EV charging into its Bangalore operations, SAP has reinforced its commitment to reducing emissions and advancing responsible commuting across its campuses.

The Road Ahead

The successful deployment at SAP Bangalore highlights how secure, scalable EV infrastructure can be embedded into global enterprise environments. As SAP looks ahead, this initiative sets a strong precedent for sustainable innovation across its global campuses.

Thanks for the timely delivery of the EV chargers! We really appreciate your commitment to quality and sticking to project deadlines. It’s great to have a reliable partner like you in our journey.
